The PingMyBrand AI Visibility Index
The State of AI Visibility: who AI actually recommends.
We put the same unprompted buyer questions to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini & Perplexity for 18 well-known SaaS brands across CRM, project management, email marketing and help desk. Not “is Salesforce good?” — the questions buyers actually ask, where you have to earn the mention. The result is uncomfortable: even household names are missing, and AI names a rival instead.
This is the PingMyBrand AI Visibility Index — our standing, named benchmark for who AI actually recommends. Target cadence: a fresh scan wave at least monthly. (See the real freshness numbers below — we show the true age of the data, never a manufactured “just updated.”)

ClickUp scores 1/100
A name you know — and AI still doesn't reliably recommend it for the unprompted questions its buyers ask. When ClickUp is missing, engines name Notion instead. If it can happen to a brand this big, it is almost certainly happening to yours.

Score is the unprompted AI-visibility score /100 — how often each engine names the brand, on its own, for its category's real buyer questions. The fourth column is the competitor AI names most in that category.

Methodology: each brand is scanned with the real unprompted questions buyers ask in its category. Branded questions (ones that already name the brand) are excluded from the score. Scores are computed from the same live pipeline that powers every free scan on this site — no editorializing, no hand-tuning. Brands still queued for a scan are omitted rather than shown with a guessed number.

What the 42/100 average is actually made of
It isn't “named 42% of the time.” Here's the real arithmetic.
A missing mention is never a blank — it's a rival's name
Why the “named instead” column matters more than the score alone.
How this study is actually built

About this study
How often ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity name the brand on their own, for the real unprompted buyer questions in its category — questions that don't already name the brand. It's computed by the same live scan pipeline that powers every free PingMyBrand report.
18 well-known SaaS brands across four categories — CRM, project management, email marketing and help desk — hand-picked because they're names most readers already recognize, so a low score is genuinely surprising rather than expected.
Being well-known to humans and being named by an AI for an unprompted buyer question are different things. AI answers are generated from what the model has learned to associate with a category, not from brand awareness alone — so a household name can still be missing from the answer while a smaller competitor is named instead.
The PingMyBrand AI Visibility Index targets a fresh scan wave at least monthly. Every brand is re-scanned periodically rather than on a fixed per-brand schedule — the oldest scan currently on record is 45 days old, already past that monthly target. A brand queued for its next scan keeps showing its last real result — never a stale number presented as current.
Yes — the leaderboard is the live, ranked view of this same PingMyBrand AI Visibility Index data, rendered as a single ranked, filterable table instead of static per-industry sections. This page also has a wider, whole-corpus sibling, The State of AI Search, which covers every brand ever scanned, not just this curated list.
The scoreboard you're not on is the one that matters now.
Your buyers have stopped Googling and started asking. If a brand as big as the ones above can be invisible, the only way to know where you stand is to look. We put real buyer questions to all four engines and show you, per question, whether AI names you or a competitor. Free, no signup, about a minute.
